Dette paper er baseret på afgangsprojektet: ”Trængselsopgørelse for busser – samt vurdering af fremkommeligheds forbedrende tiltag”, der er udarbejdet i foråret 2008 som en del af civilingeniøruddannelsen indenfor Vej- og Trafikteknik på Aalborg Universitet. Som en del af projektet indgår en bestemmelse af trængsel for busser på baggrund af GPS data automatisk logget fra de største busruter i Aalborg. I dette paper vil der være fokus på metoden til bestemmelse og illustrering af trængslen samt anvendelsesmuligheder af dette

Constructivism and constitutionism

Constructivism is one of the most successful paradigms within the social and human sciences at the beginning of the new millennium. But it is a very disputed paradigm, and critical accounts of this domi-nating –ism are proliferating. Recently, the critics have become more visible, and the paradigm is now challenged seriously. Being critics of constructivism ourselves we welcome this tendency. How-ever, we are also critical of the critique since it tends to dichotomise the debate to an unnecessary degree, and, at times, does not admit the very fertile insights that are also part of the constructivist ap-proach. In the following we shall join the critique, but in doing so we will point towards a moderated view of the ways in which the world becomes meaningful to us. Our aim is to sketch out a theoretical perspective that benefits from both the insights of constructivism and its critics, and thereby is able to realise the full explanatory potential of both

Semiotikken er først og fremmest en teori om betydning og en analytisk ramme om betydningsdannelse. Dermed er semiotikken grundlæggende rettet mod den allerede foreliggende kommunikation. Imidlertid kan semiotik også bringes i frugtbar anvendelse i en fremadrettet iværksættelse af kommunikation, der søger at kombinere kommunikativ handling med reflektorisk skarphed. Det er formålet i dette paper at indtænke semiotikkens refleksion i en fremadrettet kommunikationspraksis. Evaluation of yield, yield stability, and yield–protein relationship in 17 commercial faba bean cultivars

Abstract Faba bean is a legume crop with high protein content and considerable potential for wider cultivation in cool climates. However, it has a reputation for having unstable yield with large interannual variability, mostly attributed to yearly variation in rainfall. In this study, 17 commercial cultivars of faba bean were evaluated for seed yield, yield stability and the relationship between seed yield and protein content at four locations in Denmark and Finland during 2016?2018. We found that location and year effects accounted for 89% of the total seed yield variation. Cultivar ? environment (GxE) interactions were small (2.4%) and did not cause reranking of cultivars across environments. Yield stability contributed little to the mean yield of the cultivars, as high-yielding cultivars consistently outperformed the lower yielding genotypes, even under the most adverse conditions. Similarly, GxE effects on protein content were limited, and we found an overall negative correlation of ?0.61 between seed yield and protein content for the cultivars and environments studied. These data may be helpful for selecting cultivars for field use or for use in breeding programmes, considering that future faba bean pricing could depend on both protein quantity and concentration.Peer reviewe

Anodal transcranial direct current stimulation increases corticospinal excitability, while performance is unchanged

Anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (a-tDCS) has been shown to improve bicycle time to fatigue (TTF) tasks at 70–80% of VO(2max) and downregulate rate of perceived exertion (RPE). This study aimed to investigate the effect of a-tDCS on a RPE-clamp test, a 250-kJ time trial (TT) and motor evoked potentials (MEP). Twenty participants volunteered for three trials; control, sham stimulation and a-tDCS. Transcranial magnetic stimulation was used to determine the corticospinal excitability for 12 participants pre and post sham stimulation and a-tDCS. The a-tDCS protocol consisted of 13 minutes of stimulation (2 mA) with the anode placed above the Cz. The RPE-clamp test consisted of 5 minutes ergometer bicycling at an RPE of 13 on the Borg scale, and the TT consisted of a 250 kJ (∼10 km) long bicycle ergometer test. During each test, power output, heart rate and oxygen consumption was measured, while RPE was evaluated. MEPs increased significantly by 36% (±36%) post a-tDCS, with 8.8% (±31%) post sham stimulation (p = 0.037). No significant changes were found for any parameter at the RPE-clamp or TT. The lack of improvement may be due to RPE being more controlled by afferent feedback during TT tests than during TTF tests. Based on the results of the present study, it is concluded that a-tDCS applied over Cz, does not enhance self-paced cycling performance

Dette essay tager afsæt i forfattergruppens interne dialoger om foreningslivets potentialer og begrænsninger. Vi repræsenterer forskellige generationer, der alle har haft glæden ved at være aktive idrætsudøvere i forskellige arenaer i idrætten, mens vi alle ligeledes har erfaring som henholdsvis frivillige ledere og trænere i foreningslivet. Selvom vi repræsenterer forskellige generationer, har vi haft en fælles hypotese om, at foreningslivet i Danmark fortsat er præget af traditionel tænkning.
